Murcia plans to almost double the number of electric vehicle (EV) charging points in the city by this year, including 17 open to use by the public.

The USER-CHI replicator city will also open nine charging points in municipal offices or spaces, bringing the total number of charging points in Murcia to 70.

The public charging points – which will be free of charge – will be semi-fast chargers with a capacity of 22kW, whereas the other nine will be conventional chargers with a capacity of 7.2kW.

The roll-out will be made possible through EU and regional funds, and all 70 points are planned to be operational by September.

It is hoped the expansion of the charging network will push more residents of Murcia to take the leap into electromobility.
